Wine Accessories You Must Have

By John Knight

To be thinking of wine accessories while the number of the unemployed is increasing every day might not be good. But if you can afford it, why should you not enjoy wine just because the economy is bad? It is not like you are mocking the destitute by enjoying a glass of wine from time to time.

Besides, wine does not have to be always expensive. There are local and foreign brands that one can buy at very reasonable and affordable prices, even if your income is strictly blue collar. It is far less expensive than traveling to the heart of the wine countries of France or Italy.

Boost your wine-drinking experience with the right wine accessories.

After procuring the wine, the first thing you should get is a working corkscrew. Do not take this little item for granted, for if it keeps cork from getting into the wine, it has done a great job.

The winged corkscrew is very popular. But it is the one of the worst. The auger or worm, the curly metal in the middle is not long enough to go far into the cork for a good hold. It merely weakens the cork, breaking it into pieces as you pull the cork out.

Get for yourself a waiters corkscrew instead. With a worm, a lever, and a small knife, it is complete. With it you are able to take off the corks protective covering and cleanly take out the cork itself.

A carafe or decanter is another indispensable accessory, as it lets wine breathe, letting oxygen get to the wine to pick up the flavor and aroma. Taking out the cork is not good enough because the bottle opening is still too small for oxygen to come in. Put wine into a carafe or decanter, one of those wonderful wine accessories.
